Forensics Winter 2025 Intern - Forensic & Dispute Advisory - Columbus

Department: FDAS
Location: Columbus, OH

The role of the Forensics Intern in the Forensic & Dispute Advisory Services (FDAS) department will be to complete individual projects and assist on other projects involving forensic accounting, economic damages, asset tracing, personal damages, fraud and other litigation-related projects. Responsibilities include working with the managers and directors to assist with and complete projects.

Tasks:

  • Assist with client engagements at the direction of the Manager or Director, including planning, executing, directing, and completing projects.
  • Assist with data- and document-intensive financial analysis and modeling/projections, strategic analysis, economic and statistical analysis, due diligence, valuation analysis, damage calculations and analysis, forensic accounting procedures, litigation support, industry research, and related investigative assignments.
  • Assist with a variety of forensic accounting activities to investigate fraud or other irregularities.
  • Assist in preparing questions for discovery and deposition of potential witnesses, assist in reviewing and refuting the testimony and analysis of other expert witnesses, and design court exhibits, as necessary.
  • Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict client confidentiality.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Highly analytical with knowledge in financial analysis and modeling, accounting, finance, statistics, and regression analysis.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work with Manager and Director to coordinate workflow and case project development.
  • Ability to meet deadlines on short notice and perform under high pressure.
  • Excellent research, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed and travel to various client sites.
  • Excellent written (including technical writing), interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Must be entrepreneurial-minded.

Work Experience|Education:

  • Working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (i.e. Word, Excel).
  • Ability to travel (limited) and work overtime as needed.

Plus –

  • Public accounting or consulting experience.
  • Any experience in litigation support, business valuation, or forensic accounting. Valuation experience is a plus. Particularly any experience with:
    • Developing and/or evaluating damages models and theories,
    • Preparing expert reports for damage calculations, and documenting the results of investigations,
    • Fraud investigation and forensic accounting,
    • Preparing business valuations.

Organizational Relationships:

  • The Forensics Intern will report directly to the Director of FDAS or a manager (if appropriate).

Special Requirements:
